Sno*Drift is a 2-Day, performance car, stage-rally event warmly welcomed each January by the residence and businesses of Montmorency County, Michigan. The rally is sanctioned by the American Rally Association (ARA).
This high performance racing event is comprised of prepared two and four wheel drive, road legal cars, racing on snow and ice covered sections of closed forest roads, in a time based competition. The event attracts upwards of 50 competition cars each year from all across the United States and even Canada.
Since 1997, the Sno*Drift Rally has traditionally been the kickoff to the US rally season and will continue that role for 2019. Sno*Drift received Honorable Mention in 2008, and in 2005, 2011, and 2012, when it was named “Rally of the Year”, and is considered the benchmark by which other National Championship events are judged.
The Sno*Drift Rally was first run in 1973 and after several dormant years, the current format was restarted as a nation event, in Montmorency County, in 1997.
The Sno*Drift Rally is unique in that the entire rally is conducted on roads all contained within a single county. The compressed proximity of the special stages is highly beneficial to the competitors as it results in shorter transit distances between special stages, saving time, fuel and tire wear, as well as other factors.
With the support of local residents, business owners, cities, townships, county officials, the local sheriff’s department, road commission, Tri-Township EMS, the Atlanta Senior Center, the Atlanta Community School District and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) the all-volunteer, not for profit Sno*Drift organizing committee works year around to prepare and put on this exciting event each January. In addition, over 200 volunteers freely give their time each year on the last full weekend of January to make the Sno*Drift rally a reality, providing their expertise in key rolls such as HAM radio operators, medical first responders, scoring and timing officials, stage marshals, and in many other roles in order to make the rally a successful and fun event for everyone.
We would like to specifically thank our long time partners The May family in Lewiston, Michigan, who year after year continue to generously donate the use of their active gravel pit property as the site for our Saturday Super Special Stages. Without all of their cooperation and assistance we could not hold our event.
Additionally, Huron Distributors has been a longtime supporter of Sno*Drift and we thank them for their continued support and hospitality.
Sno*Drift makes a conscious and concerted effort to give back to the local community by donating a portion of our annual proceeds from the event to Lewiston Community Sharing, Calvary Episcopal Food Bank, the Atlanta Helping Hands and other local charities such as The Baby Basket.
We humbly recognize that without the strong support of the Montmorency County community as a whole, all of our volunteers and each and every one of our generous sponsors we would not be able to put on such a great rally.
We are always looking for ways to partner with new advertising sponsors in creating a partnership that benefits all involved. If you would like to become a sponsoring partner of the Sno*Drift rally, please contact us here.
